Introverts/Extraverts Lecture

On the afternoon of January 19, 2017, a group of The Affiliates and their friends gathered in the Red Room of Rachel Carson College on the UCSC campus to hear Professor Emerita Avril Thorne talk about her research on conversations between introverts and extraverts, expanding upon Susan Cain’s account in her book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking.

Every attendee was given a questionnaire upon entering

  • By calculating our scores on the questionnaire we were all able to determine who was introverted, who was extraverted and who were ambiverts
  • The lecture was accompanied by attention-grabbing visuals
  • Many people got to share their own stories of interactions with spouses and close friends of different personalities

Everyone agreed that we learned a lot and that the hour was very well spent.

A great success!
