A Tale of Three Volcanic Islands-Iceland, the Azores, and Hawaii

The Affiliates gathered in the Library at the Center for Ocean Health, to hear Professor Gary Griggs present an illustrated lecture on “Three Volcanic Archipelagoes:  Hawaii, Iceland and the Azores”.  

• Professor Griggs took us on a geologic journey back to the beginning and explained how continents were formed from the original Pangea landmass
• How hotspots were formed and how differently these three regions came to be  
• Gary did this all in a way that was completely comprehensible to non-scientist laypeople  
• The Affiliates members came away with more knowledge about the world we live in
• The Affiliates are most appreciative of Professor Griggs for putting this beautifully organized lecture together just for us!
